NEW YORK CAR ACCIDENT CASES
I was injured in an auto accident, and I need to hire an attorney. How much does your office charge?
People assume lawyers are very expensive to hire, particularly those with experience handling car accident cases. In reality, the law in New York provides that virtually all car accident cases are handled on what is called a “Contingency Fee” basis. In other words, the injured person pays no money up front and no hourly rates. The attorney’s fee will come from a percentage of the recovery. The initial consultation with the attorney is normally free of charge as well.
In New York, the customary Retainer for car accident cases limits the attorney’s fees at One-Third of the Gross Recovery. As per the law, the client is responsible for the payment of expenses related to the lawsuit which include court fees, experts, investigation material, etc. This make it easy and affordable for injured persons to seek and hire expert attorneys in the handling of auto accident cases.
