Improper Treatment by Coney Island Hospital Emergency Room Leads to Death of 47-year Old Brooklyn Woman

The New York State Department of Health investigated the wrongful death of 47-year old Brooklyn woman, Grisel Soto, in the Emergency Room of Coney Island Hospital and concluded that the medical treatment she received was improper. According to a report by the New York Daily News, the New York State Department of Health cited Coney Island Hospital for six violations of the federal code of patient rights, specifically involving the issue of restraint, emergency services, and emergency services policies. Ms. Soto apparently suffered from meningitis but was misdiagnosed as having an allergic reaction to medical marijuana. She was given anti-psychotic drugs and eventually died several hours later.
