About Our Firm

Queller, Fisher, Washor, Fuchs & Kool was formed in 2000, when Queller & Fisher, a personal injury and medical malpractice firm, merged with Dienst & Serrins, which also specialized in personal injury and medical malpractice litigation. The firms shared a history of forging new paths in the personal injury field.

From 1984 to 1986, Fred Queller, founding partner of Queller & Fisher and now of counsel to the firm, served as president of the 4,000-plus member New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the State's largest and most influential organization fighting for the protection of injured persons. Mr. Queller is widely considered a pioneer in the field of personal injury law, having registered many of the early million and multimillion dollar jury verdicts in New York State. At the same time, Mr. Queller designed and personally conducted trial advocacy programs in which he invited some of the state's finest judges to partner with him in teaching the art of the trial of serious personal injury cases.

By the year 2000, the firm of Dienst & Serrins was also widely recognized as one of the most successful personal injury firms in New York State. The firm's trial attorneys had become renowned for their skills in the courtroom, having achieved a vast array of successful verdicts and settlements.

The merger of these two giants was no accident. The reputation of the two firms had become such that a large majority of the cases handled by each firm were referred by other lawyers within the legal community. Even other personal injury law firms would often refer serious injury and wrongful death cases to either Queller & Fisher or Dienst & Serrins. The common thread was unmistakable. Both firms had gained a reputation as "counsel to the profession". In other words, both firms often handled serious injury and wrongful death cases for friends and family members of persons knowledgeable about personal injury law.

The firm continues to be selective in choosing which cases to accept. By intentionally litigating only a small volume of serious injury and wrongful death cases, each client can rest assured that their case will get the attention it deserves. However, today's firm makes a conscious effort to increase the awareness of the general public regarding the quality of legal representation that we offer. Serious injury victims are now encouraged to contact the firm directly. With direct access to our firm, there is no reason for our clients to consult a less experienced attorney, only to have that attorney ultimately refer the case to us. We are privileged to represent all of our clients, and realize that those persons who have the least resources are often those that need us the most.

How we work

Each case presented to the firm is carefully screened by the partners. Upon acceptance, it is assigned to a lead attorney and a team of support staff best suited to the type of litigation in question. The diverse professional background of the firm's lawyers and on-staff experts ensures that every case is handled by an experienced team that is thoroughly familiar with the nature of the claim, whether it involves an automobile accident, construction accident, premises liability, wrongful death, or medical malpractice. The claim is then investigated, typically in consultation with experts and private investigators. The firm's lawyers, paralegals and other expert staff have long-standing relationships with the investigators and expert witnesses who play key roles in the successful resolution of many personal injury and medical malpractice cases. The firm prides itself on its ability to seamlessly manage its cases from the day a client walks in the door right through trial or settlement. In contrast to many personal injury attorneys who have never, or rarely, taken a case through trial, the lawyers of Queller, Fisher, Washor, Fuchs & Kool are renowned for their skills in the courtroom. The lead lawyer is involved at each step of the process, including strategic decision-making, preparation of court filings, settlement negotiations, factual and legal research, and trial.

The firm's long track record of impressive court victories and substantial settlements demonstrates the effectiveness of this approach and the talent of our legal teams. Queller, Fisher, Washor, Fuchs & Kool has won verdicts and settlements totaling nearly 1 billion dollars on behalf of its clients.
