Since he began practicing law in 1981, Barry Washor has established a reputation as one of the top medical malpractice and personal injury lawyers in New York. He has recovered many millions of dollars for his clients, including more than 200 verdicts and settlements in excess of $1 million each.

Mr. Washor has been recognized in the New York Times Magazine as one of the New York metropolitan area’s “Super Lawyers” in the field of medical malpractice. He has also obtained the distinguished AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Washor is listed in Cambridge’s Who’s Who and is a lifetime member of The Multimillion Dollar Advocates Forum, which is an honor bestowed upon lawyers who have obtained multimillion dollar awards on behalf of their clients.

Mr. Washor is also featured in New York Magazine’s 2012 Best Lawyers in New York in the area of medical malpractice and personal injury.

Mr. Washor is exceptionally experienced in the courtroom. He employs top experts and cutting-edge technology, such as animated presentations and medical artists, to great persuasive effect in a complex and extremely technical area of the law. Mr. Washor’s outstanding reputation as a trial lawyer gets his clients results at the negotiating table as well.

Mr. Washor began his career on the defense side, working for an insurance defense law firm. Within just two years, Mr. Washor was trying major medical malpractice cases and by age 27 was a partner at the law firm. He left the defense side to become a plaintiff’s attorney in 1988, but his experience as a defense attorney gave Mr. Washor unique and invaluable insight into how insurers defend and evaluate medical malpractice lawsuits. Throughout his impressive career, Mr. Washor continues to hold the deepest respect for his clients. “I’m amazed by the resiliency and strength of people who never thought life would be worth living again. It’s a pleasure and honor to work with them, represent them and help them,” Mr. Washor says.

Mr. Washor is also well known for his meticulous approach to the preparation and trial of cases which often lead to impressive settlements prior to and during trials of medical malpractice, construction accidents and car accidents. At trial, Mr. Washor is regarded as a fierce advocate, extremely schooled in the art of cross examination.

Mr. Washor is consistently sought after to share his knowledge and experience with other lawyers and law students. Among other activities, he teaches trial advocacy at Cardozo Law School and is a frequent lecturer in trial advocacy for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA). Since 2002, he has served on NYSTLA’s Board of Governors, and is a member of its medical malpractice committee.
